Outrigger crews perform well in strong winds

Central Coast Outrigger Canoe Club has performed well in strong winds and rain at the Port Hacking regatta on Saturday, March 29.

"Gusts were up to 28 knots which is nearly gale force and made conditions challenging," said head coach Michelle Costa.

The club entered three teams in the 16km course.

The club came second in master women, third in senior master women (lightweight canoe category), and the master men team (lightweight) were fifth, after all the age categories were combined.

"The master men finished in one hour 15 minutes, which is a fantastic work rate since four of the crew were novices and Andy Debus was steering his first long course," said coach Yvonne Walters.

The club is now training for the State Titles in May.

The club trains regularly from Woy Woy and Patonga.
