Blue boat removed from mangroves

The Clean4Shore marine clean-up program has removed a disused blue boat was found in mangroves at Orange Grove.

Program co-ordinator Mr Graham Johnston said: "With the assistance of a council employee, it was winched onto a larger car trailer, secured and delivered to the tip.

"The off-load was a bit more tricky with a reverse winch needed to jump the boat off and ready for landfill."

Earlier, Mr Johnston went to Hardy's Bay to investigate several old craft "stickered for removal".

"Adjacent to the tender rack, lay several very old craft most with weeds growing over them.

"These were not the craft that council had suggested.

"After local consultation, these vessels were removed.

"The old craft were reported for possible compliance action."
