GUST seeks progress on Greener Places strategy

The Peninsula's Grow Urban Street Trees group has written seeking a meeting Central Coast Council administrator Mr Dick Persson to discuss the draft Greener Places strategy.

"The strategy is a fantastic snapshot of the issues we need to address but it is still in draft over a year after it was published," said group member Ms Michelle Chandler.

"There still is no policy behind it, supporting it or for its implementation.

"We still do not have an updated Significant Tree Register.

"We still have insufficient replacement and succession planting processes and resources.

"We still do not have a free tree for ratepayers, despite the vast majority of Councils having it.

"Street trees are still not 'business as usual' and are rarely planted as part of road upgrades.

"What will it take to make the dream of a cool, healthy, beautiful future a reality?"
