Men's netball team is first-time runner-up in State titles
Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Association's inaugural Men's Division 2 team were runners-up in their first appearance at the Netball NSW Senior State Titles.
The titles were held at Coronation Park Netball and Soccer Complex at Campbelltown on Sunday, June 8.
Winner was Camden while third place was taken by Lakeside in the competition between 12 sides, each playing 11 games.
The Peninsula side won 10 of its games and lost one.
The Peninsula team comprised Lachlan Braddish, Denver Coomber, Brent Dufty, Aaron Eastgae, Adam Gowrie, Jack Jones, Drew Kearns, Mitch Linfield, Joel Manton, Scott Manuelle, Greg Marks and James Walker.
Head coach was Kath Styant, assistant coach Kylie Rayner and manager Casey O'Sullivan.
Coach of the winning Camden team Ms Jane Kelleher commented that the Peninsula's result was "an amazing effort for an inaugural team".
"It took us three years and three attempts to come as far as we have, and you almost did it in one," she said.
Results for the top three teams were: Camden 11 points (184.55 per cent), 11 wins 0 losses 0 draws. Woy Woy Peninsula 20 (268.75), 10-1-0. Lakeside 16 (124.44), 7-2-2.
