Driest start to any month this year

After record rainfall in May, the Peninsula had the driest start to any month this year.

Just 4.7mm were recorded in the first two weeks of the month, according to figures supplied by Mr Jim Morrison of Umina.

The next lowest rainfall for the first two weeks of a month this year was 7.0mm in April.

The 20-year average rainfall for June is 144mm.

However, four of the last five years have had the lowest four June totals in 20 years - all being less than 61.9mm and averaging 37.4mm.

A total of 12.6mm was recorded in June 2022 and 22.9mm in 2023.

A total of 52.1mm was recorded in June 2021 and 61.9mm in 2020.

The next lowest June total was 84.4mm recorded in 2014.

Last year almost 200mm was recorded.
