Minister attends preaching conference
The Broken Bay Uniting Church minister, the Reverend Patty Lawrence, has attended a preaching conference for three days at St Stephen's Uniting Church in Sydney.
"It is interesting to see the different ways people approach preaching," she said.
She gave examples of a preacher from the United States who had a passion for parables.
Another spoke about preaching when everything around us is changing.
Someone else spoke about how important it was to be familiar with the Old Testament to understand the New Testament.
Another spoke about physicality of preaching.
The Rev Karyn Burchell Thomas will replace Ms Lawrence from June 14 to July 26 when she takes some long service leave.
