Gwen Payne celebrates 100 years
Ms Gwen Payne reached the milestone of 100 years on June 1.
Ms Payne retired to Umina 36 years ago and became involved in community activities including Meals on Wheels, the Umina Beach Bowling Club, the School for Seniors, the Crete Club and other clubs.
She also went each week to enjoy bingo with her son Robert at the various local clubs, according to her daughter Ms Julia Payne.
"After the passing of her son Robert two years ago, Gwen came to live at Hillview House Residential Aged Care in Woy Woy," she said.
"She has settled in well to her new home, really appreciates the care she receives and continues to make the most of each day.
"Gwen's secret to a happy and contented life has always been to care for others and to help whenever possible and to appreciate the simple joys of life.
"Gwen especially enjoys jive music and with the support of her walker still enjoys a little dance.
"We had a special luncheon at a friend's home on her 100th birthday.
"A few days earlier, we had a special afternoon tea with her eldest son, Bruce, who is in care at Bateau Bay.
"There she opened her special congratulatory cards from King Charles, the Prime Minister and Premier so that he could also join in."
