Board pays tribute to former bank director

The board of directors at Community Bank Ettalong Beach has paid tribute to long-serving board director Mr Ken Dixon, who died recently.

"Ken dedicated many years to the Community Bank, bringing passion, purpose, and integrity to his role," said board co-chair Mr Michael Tame.

"Before retiring, Mr Dixon served as General Manager of Finance and Administration for the Department of Education and Training from 2005 to 2009.

"Prior to that, he was the department's Director of Finance from 1989 to 2004.

"His extensive professional background in financial management was a tremendous asset to the bank board, helping guide strategic decisions with sound fiscal insight and governance.

"As a key board member often responsible for community grants, sponsorships, and partnerships, Ken was a driving force behind our mission to return up to 80 per cent of profits back into local projects that strengthen and uplift our region.

"His leadership saw significant support directed to initiatives such as the Brisbane Water Secondary College, the Woy Woy Roosters, the rural fire brigades, and many others.

"Ken had a unique ability to see the potential in people and programs and to back them wholeheartedly.

"One of his greatest personal passions was bowls and the Ettalong Bowling Club, where he was a familiar and well-loved presence.

"His support of the club reflected his deep belief in community connection, inclusion, and the value of local traditions.

"Ken was humble, generous and completely committed to giving back.

"His legacy is not just in the projects he supported, it's in the relationships he built, the trust he earned, and the difference he made.

"Ken's dedication to community banking was never about recognition.

"It was about doing what's right for the people and places he loved, and helping ensure future generations would benefit from a stronger, more connected Peninsula.

"While Ken is no longer with us, his vision and values continue to guide our work at Community Bank Ettalong Beach.

"We are proud to continue the legacy he helped build, putting profits back into the community and standing behind the people who make it thrive.

"Ken Dixon's contribution will never be forgotten.

"His memory lives on in every local project, club, and cause he supported."
