Woy Woy Bowling Club plays last game after 90 years

The 90-year-old Woy Woy Bowling Club has no longer exists, dissolving after its final game in State Pennant competition.

The second oldest club on the Central Coast played the game against Wyong, the oldest club.

Woy Woy won with a score of 55-45.

"The men's club was founded in 1932 and first affiliated with the Royal New South Wales Bowls Association in 1933," said Bowls Central Coast publicity officer Mr Peter Springett.

"A women's section commenced in 1936."

He said the club had won more than 20 Zone Pennants over its history.

It won a State Pennant in 2017, the only time a Peninsula club has done so.

"Long-term financial struggles saw the registered club cease trading in June last year.

"Around 30 bowlers maintained the club bowling affiliations in order to reach the 90-year milestone."

Mr Springett said: "So much history and so many good bowlers have been part of the club over the years.

"I have only lived on the Coast for seven years, but it would seem that all Central Coast bowlers have a positive Woy Woy Bowling Club story."
