Floorball player selected for championships in Finland
Peninsula floorball player Gemma O'Rourke has been selected in the Australian team for the 2024 Under-19 Women's World Floorball Championships
The championships will be held from May 8-12 in Lahti, Finland.
"The trip is entirely athlete-funded," said Gemma.
"I am currently looking for sponsorships or donations so that I can attend."
Gemma has started a crowd-funding page with a target of $8000.
"More than half of the total cost is going towards accommodation and travel, with nearly a quarter towards uniforms," she said.
"This is a huge amount of money for an 18-year-old to raise in under two months."
In just over two weeks, the appeal has raised almost $4500.
