Ex-rugby players walk the Kokoda trail
Two ex players from Woy Woy Rugby Club have recently trekked the Kokoda trail.
"I've just completed the Kokoda trail walk from Port Moresby to Kokoda in the jungle for eight days, with the total kilometres being 120kms," said Ms Aiesha El-Kurdi.
"I also had another ex-rugby player Liam Orlowski with me on this trip and he also helped carry some training shirts out for the locals.
"This was a massive challenge even as ex-rugby players from Woy Woy.
"This experience has tested me in lots of different ways such as my physical and mental capacity.
"I was blessed enough to reach out to the rugby club before leaving for my trip to grab some spare training shirts to hand out in the villages on the Kokoda track as these families either have to walk to Port Moresby or Kokoda for resources.
"The pictures show the local kids and our porters wearing our training shirts over on the track in PNG.
"They were so grateful and never took the clothes off.
"It was also very special seeing the red and white spirit being worn in another country."
