April's rainfall total was close to average

April's rainfall of 167.8mm was slightly over the average of 156mm.

After a mostly dry month, more than 80 per cent of the total, 136.4mm, fell in the last week of the month, according to figures supplied by Mr Jim Morrison of Umina.

The April figure was just 7.6 per cent above average, bringing the year's total to 557.3mm.

This was just 7.9 per cent below the average total at the end of April of 605mm.

The cumulative total for the year has remained close to average for the first four months of the year.

In the first two days of May, 16.5mm was recorded, already 20 per cent of the May monthly average of 83mm.
