Semi-finals of handicap pairs played at Umina

The Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club has played the semi-finals of its 2025 Handicap Pairs Championship on Sunday, July 6.

"What a great afternoon we had for the semi-finals: Sunshine, quick greens, cold beers and some great bowls," said club secretary Mr Peter Springett.

In the first semi-final, Allan Rhodes and Mark Hogden played Brian Butterworth and Jazza Bates.

It was a match with "one old bloke with a bowling arm playing with a younger bloke with yellow bowls, playing against another old bloke with a bowling arm playing with a younger bloke with yellow bowls".

"As expected, this was a great game, which was won by Brian Butterworth and Jazza Bates."

In the other semi-final, Ken Robertson and Dave Whitfield played Lindsay Hicks and Kevin Bettridge.

"Lindsay and Kev picked up five shots on the third end, which meant that Ken and Dave were playing catchup from early on in the game.

"Lindsay and Kev then picked up four shots on end 11, six shots on end 15 and another four shots on end 19 to win the game."
