Local aged care executive retires after 30 years

A local aged care facility has farewelled its chief operating officer and deputy chief executive after 30 years of service.

Peninsula Village's chief operating officer Ms Jackie Bennett retired on June 30.

"We were fortunate to celebrate Jackie's incredible legacy with a beautiful afternoon tea," said chief executive Mr Colin Osborne.

"It was heartening to see so many of there to make the occasion all the more special, even as we shared in the bitter-sweetness of saying goodbye.

"Jackie's warmth, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our community will be dearly missed.

"We wish her every happiness in her well-earned retirement."

A week of celebrations marked her farewell.

"From Annali's vibrant Samoan dance and Jerry's heartfelt performance at the residents' party to a maintenance team barbecue in their brand new shed, Jackie was sent off in style.

The celebrations continued at Ettalong Diggers with speeches from board chair Ms Jan-Maree Tweedie, Mr Osborne, and Ms Bennett herself.

Familiar faces, including former chief executive Mr Shane Neaves, also attended.
