Award recognises our community service

Peninsula News has been recognised for its service to the Peninsula community.

The Rotary Club of Woy Woy honoured Peninsula News with a Community Service Award at its awards night on Tuesday, May 6.

Peninsula News is produced on a non-profit basis by members of our community as service to our community.

Over the past year, the fortnightly newspaper which is owned and operated by the voluntary non-profit community group, The Peninsula's Own News Service Inc, has reached a number of milestones.

Last August, having earlier celebrated 25 years of operation, we published our 600th edition.

This was soon followed by the 100th issue published "on our own", without the production assistance of a commercial organisation.

We regularly receive feedback that Peninsula News is appreciated and provides a valuable role in informing our Peninsula community of activities and issues affecting residents.

However, we are particularly appreciative that our achievements have been recognised by the Rotary club, which itself has a proud track-record of service to our community.

Rotary has a "four-fold test" to guide its actions: Is it true? Is it fair? Will it build goodwill? Will it benefit all concerned?

This is a guide that we like to apply in the production of Peninsula News.
