Has someone turned up with a walker that is not theirs?
On Monday, May 5, after having lunch at Michelle Patisserie Woy Woy, I left my husband there while I went over to Services Australia.
I saw the back of a lady with medium length grey hair and a pink jumper or cardigan as she walked independently further down the cafe.
We had put my husband's almost new red walker against the wall so it did not impair other customers' movements in the cafe.
On my return, my husband was still sitting in his seat and I looked around for his walker and it was nowhere to be seen.
He had been reading the paper.
The manager of the cafe went to centre management and on viewing the CCTV we saw the lady described above walking out on the centre with our walker.
He is totally dependent on the walker and I was concerned about holding him up while we walked out to the car park.
If he stumbled we could both go down.
I solved the problem by getting a trolley from Woolworths to assist him get to the car.
If someone has a mother, nanna, partner or wife who turned up at home with a walker that was not hers (perhaps confused) I would sell it to her for a reasonable $100.
I have a wire basket that goes with the walker that is obviously of no use to me whatsoever.
If she does not wish to buy it, I would like the walker returned.
She should also be made to understand the implication if her actions by leaving an elderly man who is dependent on his walker, being only able to shuffle a few steps, stranded without any support.
Thank goodness for Woolies' Trollies.
