Seven receive Pride of Workmanship awards

The Rotary Club of Brisbane Water has presented seven people with Pride of Workmanship awards.

This is the second year Rotary Brisbane Water has run the awards for outstanding service and commitment to the community, which were presented at a dinner at Ettalong Diggers on Thursday, May 1.

Recipients were RYSS case worker Ms Lexi Lovell, police Senior Constable Kellie Redwood, Ettalong teacher Ms Kathleen Kennedy, Mr Chris Irwin of Lambert's Smash Repairs, Ms Jane Ray of JCR Therapies, and Ms Anna-Marie and Mr Brett Newcombe.

Ms Lovell was nominated by RYSS team leader Ms Beck Johnstone for her extensive work with people aged 12-17 on the Peninsula.

PCYC Umina manager Ms Judy Tolhurst nominated Senior Constable Redwood, as police youth engagement officer, for her exemplary assistance with youth programs at PCYC, and her engagement with young people of all ages.

Ms Kennedy was nominated by Ettalong Year 6 student Max Galasso and his mother Ms Danielle Bilinsky for her exemplary commitment to her students and their care in the classroom and in other school activities.

Mr Irwin was nominated by the club's co-president Ms Jayne Mote, who commended Chris for the standard of his work, as well as his commitment to making customers happy.

Ms Raj was nominated by club secretary Ms Di Bartok, who sang the praises of Jane's multi-faceted business that makes regular donations to the Because We Care Boutique charity.

The Newcombes were nominated by club member Mr Mitchell Gordon for their service as founders of the Mercy and Grace Ministries distributing food during the coronavirus pandemic.
