Warren Fahey to perform at folk club

Australian song collector and performer Warren Fahey will perform at Troubadour Folk Club at the Everglades Country Club at 2pm on Sunday, May 25.

He will be accompanied by Garry Steel on accordion and Marcus Holden on strings.

"This special concert has been a long two years in the making," said folk club president Mr Michael Fine.

"It will certainly have been worth the wait."

The concert, Bush Songs and City Ditties, will be a collection of bush ballads, folksongs, recitations, yarns and curious stories, delivered by one of Australia's most celebrated storytellers and music entrepreneurs, he said.

"Now, you can experience over two hours of marvellous music and stories from an Australian folk music legend up close and personal.

"Warren is a folk legend in this country as a performer, song collector and cultural historian.

"He has been honoured with the Order of Australia, the Prime Minister's Centenary Medal, Golden Gumleaf Award and Australia's highest award for lifetime achievement in music, the Don Banks Music Award.

"He also founded Folkways Music and Larrikin Records in the early 1970s.

"This enabled great artists, such as Eric Bogle, Kev Carmody, Redgum, Robyn Archer, Sirocco, Jeannie Lewis and Renee Geyer, to make a mark across the globe," he said.

"In the 1990s Larrikin became part of Australia's Festival Records."

Bookings may be made through the folk club's website at troubadour.org.au.
