How is consultation possible in busy shopping centre?
I refer to Cr Jane Smith's advice (Peninsula News 618) of the council consultation in Deepwater Plaza on May 31.
How is consultation with councillors and council staff is expected to happen?
The hubbub of Deepwater Plaza on a Saturday morning is not conducive to confidential or detailed discussions with councillors.
Is this the reason for selecting this venue?
The shopping centre character will dominate the consultation.
Where is the respect for Peninsula residents?
Will there be changes to the format following objection by Peninsula residents or do councillors and council staff know best?
The only West Ward councillor having power in the council chamber is Cr Trent McWaide, a member of the eight-member majority in the Council.
Therefore, all questions and inquiries should be directed to one councillor, not three.
This raises many more questions about the purpose of the event.
Plaza management and tenants must be very pleased with this free publicity and extra custom.
