Rotary clubs recognise Peninsula News volunteers
Two Peninsula News volunteers have been recognised by Rotary clubs on the Peninsula this month.
The Rotary Club of Umina Beach presented a community service award to distribution manager Mr Frank Wiffen for his voluntary contribution to the newspaper, in picking the paper up from the printer and organising its distribution.
He was also recognised for raising awareness of the impact of planning issues on the quality of community life, both through articles in Peninsula News and in his involvement and advocacy through the Peninsula Residents' Association.
The Rotary Club of Woy Woy named Peninsula News editor Mr Mark Snell as a Paul Harris Fellow for his 26 years of voluntary service as editor.
"The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow to Mark Snell was met with sheer disbelief on his part and great delight from everyone else in the room," said club president Mr Tom McCann.
Mr Snell said that the Fellowship was one of the highest awards for community service that a non-Rotary member could receive from within his own community.
"It is a great honour, very much appreciated and it will be proudly treasured."
